🌿 Plant-Based Natural Fibers
Sustainable, breathable, and especially skin-friendly.
Cotton: Extremely skin-friendly, robust, absorbent, and durable. Ideal for: T-shirts, jeans, everyday wear.
🧺 Care: Usually washable at 30–40 °C. White cotton often tolerates more. Tumble dry, ironing at high heat possible.
Organic Cotton: Same benefits as cotton, but grown without chemical pesticides. Ideal for: Sustainable fashion, baby clothes.
🧺 Care: Wash at 30 °C with a mild detergent to preserve natural fibers and colors. Air drying recommended.
Linen: Made from flax. Extremely airy, cooling, and tear-resistant, but wrinkles quickly. Ideal for: Summer shirts, summer dresses, light trousers.
🧺 Care: Wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle. Do not tumble dry. Always iron when damp at high heat.
Hemp: Very environmentally friendly to grow, extremely durable, and antibacterial. Ideal for: Robust casual wear, jackets.
🧺 Care: Washable at 30–40 °C. Becomes softer with each wash. Air dry and iron when damp.
🐑 Animal-Based Natural Fibers
Natural talents for perfect thermoregulation and elegant looks.
Virgin Wool (Wool): Sheep's wool. Keeps extremely warm, is dirt-repellent, and hardly wrinkles. Ideal for: Winter coats, thick sweaters, suits.
🧺 Care: Wash rarely; airing out is often sufficient. If necessary: Hand wash or wool cycle (cold), use wool detergent, dry flat.
Merino Wool (Merino): Especially fine sheep's wool. Non-scratchy, warms in cold weather, and cools in heat. Ideal for: Thermal underwear, fine knit sweaters.
🧺 Care: Often machine washable on a wool cycle at 30 °C. Do not use fabric softener. Air dry flat.
Cashmere: Fine hair from the cashmere goat. Luxuriously soft, extremely light, and very warm. Ideal for: Premium knitwear, scarves.
🧺 Care: Wool cycle (cold) or cold hand wash with cashmere detergent. Never wring. Dry flat on a towel.
Silk: From silkworm cocoons. Elegant sheen, extremely smooth, cools in summer, and warms in winter. Ideal for: Elegant blouses, evening dresses, pajamas.
🧺 Care: Hand wash or special silk wash cycle in a laundry net. Use liquid silk detergent. Iron only inside out on the lowest setting.
🌲 Regenerated Cellulosic Fibers (Semi-Synthetic)
Chemically produced from natural raw materials (mostly wood). Combine the softness of nature with the functionality of synthetic fibers.
Viscose / Rayon: Derived from cellulose. Drapes beautifully, has a silk-like sheen, and is very soft. Ideal for: Light blouses, dresses.
🧺 Care: Wash on a gentle cycle at max. 30 °C with liquid fine detergent. Do not tumble dry. Pull into shape when wet.
Modal: A further development of viscose (mostly from beech wood). Even softer, more elastic, and dimensionally stable. Ideal for: Underwear, loungewear, T-shirts.
🧺 Care: Easy-care or gentle cycle up to 40 °C. Best to wash inside out. Iron at moderate heat.
Lyocell / Tencel: Made from eucalyptus or beech wood. Extremely environmentally friendly in production, super soft, perfectly absorbs moisture. Ideal for: Sustainable fashion, sportswear, light trousers.
🧺 Care: Wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle. Hardly shrinks and wrinkles little. Let air dry.
Acetate: Artificial silk from cellulose. Wrinkle-resistant, dimensionally stable, and shiny. Ideal for: Jacket and blazer linings.
🧺 Care: Hand wash only or very gentle cold wash cycle. Never tumble dry. Iron only lukewarm.
🔬 Synthetic Chemical Fibers (Fully Synthetic)
Pure man-made fibers based on petroleum. Extremely functional, tear-resistant, and easy to care for.
Polyester (PES): The most commonly used fiber. Wrinkle-free, tear-resistant, dries extremely quickly, does not shrink. Ideal for: Sportswear, jackets, clothing blends.
🧺 Care: Easy-care program at 30–40 °C. Dries extremely quickly in the air, tumble dryer usually unnecessary. Ironing usually not required.
Polyamide / Nylon (PA): The most tear-resistant of all textile fibers. Extremely elastic and water-repellent. Ideal for: Tights, swimwear, outdoor jackets.
🧺 Care: Wash at 30 °C on a normal cycle. Do not use fabric softener (destroys functionality). Absolutely avoid heat (tumble dryer/ironing).
Polyacrylic (PAN): Feels like wool and keeps warm, but is much lighter and easier to care for than real wool. Ideal for: Inexpensive knit sweaters, hats.
🧺 Care: Wash at a maximum of 30 °C on a gentle cycle. Can pill (fuzz) with too much heat. Do not tumble dry.
Elastane / Spandex / Lycra: Extremely stretchy (up to 700% elastic). Provides the perfect stretch effect. Ideal for: Skinny jeans, leggings, sportswear.
🧺 Care: Wash at 30 °C. Important: Never use fabric softener, as this will wear out the elastic fibers. Do not tumble dry.
